Spring into Health
We are bouncing into spring or maybe you are slightly dragging a little. Even though we live in the tropics we still experience a wintertime. Perhaps you gained a little extra weight, or have not been exercising as much. Maybe you are not sleeping well and feeling sluggish. The key to staying healthy is to harmonize with the changes of the seasons. As we have a spring cleaning ritual for our homes it is helpful to also have a spring cleanse as well. There are many cleanses available and it is good to be able to tailor it to your personal needs. You can always seek professional guidance. Perhaps even get a season tune up from your acupuncturist to harmonize your energy flow.
The reason that its important to cleanse is that we get bogged down by toxins in our body and that can lead to disease. A major factor that contributes to chronic disease is environmental toxins. Scientists have identified more than 200 industrial chemicals , like pesticides, lead, mercury, BPA’s, flames retardants and jet fuel that lead to numerous diseases such as cancer, auto immune disease, genital deformities, lower sperm count and diminished IQ. In our society chemicals are “innocent until proven guilty”. Even if they are proven harmful they are still allowed in our country. The best way to combat this is to take great care of ourselves
*Eat Real, organic food: alkaline rich diets are best as they have been linked to a healthier immune system. Examples of this are greens, fruits and lots of water. One of the ways is to lightening your eating from heavier foods to lighter cleaner foods.. Eating foods that are high in antioxidants and fiber as they cleanse the colon and enhance digestion.
